4th March 2023
As a Session and congregation, we mourn the passing on 4th March 2023 of our beloved former pastor Professor Edward (Ted) Donnelly.
We express our Christian love, heartfelt sympathy and prayerful support to Mrs Lorna Donnelly, Catherine, Ruth & Warren, John & Sarah and grandchildren.
We know that the Father of mercies and God of all comfort is their refuge.
While this a deep loss for Ted’s dear wife, family and for all who knew and loved him, we are thankful that his many years of pain and illness are gone – with Ted now experiencing the heavenly realms he preached and wrote about so helpfully.
In the hand of almighty God, Ted Donnelly’s ministry in the Trinity congregation over 35 years was greatly blessed.
His visionary and faithful leadership, combined with preaching and teaching gifts – which were appreciated not only in Trinity but across the world – underpinned with insightful pastoral wisdom, were wonderfully used by the triune God to revitalise the Trinity congregation, inspiring  many to serve Christ and His Church.
There will be opportunities to highlight Ted’s service in many other spheres such as in Dervock & Glenmanus congregations, the mission field in Cyprus, the Reformed Theological College, the Banner of Truth Trust, and as a much appreciated conference speaker and author.
But as a congregation, along with his sorrowing family, we lament the passing of a much loved former pastor and friend, recognising, in the words of 2 Samuel 3, that a prince and a great man has fallen in Israel.
